It’s been well over 40 years since England’s first and only World Cup championship – and yet, this hasn’t distracted the loyal Three Lion fans from each 4 year swearing that this is finally the time to regain the glory as the top footballing nation in the world. That mission now falls on the shoulders of Fabio Capello, the charismatic coach out of Italy who has in a short time span reversed the fortunes of English football from laughingstock when they failed to make the Euro 2008 competition to 3rd favorites going into the 2010 World Cup hosted in South Africa.
Fabio Capello is 63 years of age, but that hasn’t stopped him from earning one of the biggest manager contracts with the FA reportedly haven given him a 6 million pounds per year contract. The contract runs through to 2012 but both sides have the option to end the contract following the 2010 World Cup.

It looks certain, barring a World Cup disaster for England, that England will try to retain their manager Fabio Capello. However, there has been suspicion recently that Capello might get bored of life in England or not getting to coach on a daily basis. It seems, that those rumours couldn’t have been further from the truth:
“I hope to be still here in 2012,” he said. “It depends on the FA and results at the World Cup of course, but I am really happy. I like my job. I like being England manager and I hope after the World Cup I will still be manager.
That should remove any suspicion of Fabio Capello and England not being a good fit. Now all that remains is the little part about having to lead the nation to a championship for the first time in 44 years.
