Hedo Turkoglu was widely considered the most disappointing player in the NBA last year following an abysmal season in Toronto shortly after having been the most coveted free agent in the offseason. His tenure in Phoenix didn’t improve matters and everyone thought that Hedo’s career was over. Stan Van Gundy and the Orlando Magic, however, begged to differ and they took a big chance bringing back the Turkish small forward to the Magic kingdom.
Hedo stuffed the stat sheet like it was a turkey on Thanksgiving day on Monday night. Not only did he record his third ever triple double, but he also added a career high 5 steels. His command of the offense has allowed Orlando’s shooters to get wide open looks and for Dwight Howard to get easy baskets – essentially being one of the primary reasons for the Magic’s impressive 6 game winning streak.

Hedo Turkoglu triple double
After the game Hedo Turkoglu was asked why it was that he was struggling so much during his time outside of Orlando. His reply explained the whole story – “I didn’t struggle” proclaimed the 6-10 point-forward, “I wasn’t used in the right way”. So give the credit to Otis Smith and Stan Van Gundy for making proper use of the unorthodox player that was once often referred to as ‘Mr. fourth quarter’. Today he was known as ‘Mr. Triple Double’, and the Orlando Magic will be more than happy with that.
