Rafael Benitez, the former Liverpool coach who turned the Anfield side into Champions League perennial contenders, has been sacked by Inter Milan. It took just 6 months for Rafa to be fired but those are the stakes of being the manager of Champions League champions.
Rafa Benitez accepted the job at Internazionale knowing very well the high pressure of taking the top job. Despite still being in contention for a Champions League repeat – the Inter Milan coach has failed to put up a good fight in the Serie A. They are currently in 7th place in the Italian League with 13 points behind their inner city rivals AC Milan.

The two sides agreed to a “mutually satisfactory agreement” and the following statement was released:
“Inter Milan and Rafael Benitez can announce that they have reached a mutually satisfactory agreement for the early termination of his contract, Inter thank Rafael Benitez for his work in leading his team to success in the Italian Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.”
This will open up Rafael Benitez to some new opportunities and it’s likely that he will either return to the Premier League where he was so successful or alternatively back to Spain where he became one of the top coaches in the world.
